Basic roasted applesauce

Cox’s Orange Pipin, Grimes Golden, Wealthy

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a baking dish, place:

  • 12 apples of 2–3 different varieties, peeled, cored, and quartered

  • Butter (1–2 teaspoons per lb.)

  • A splash of apple cider vinegar

  • A splash of maple syrup, if needed or desired

Cover and roast until the apples are soft, about 20–30 minutes. Remove cover, increase the temperature to 450°F. Roast until the apples are starting to brown, watching carefully, about 5–10 minutes.

Mash with a fork to create a smooth sauce with a few chunks.

Serve at room temperature or chilled.
